About Mecca Masjid
Mecca Masjid, also spelled Makkah Masjid, is one of the most significant historical and religious landmarks in India. Located in Hyderabad, Telangana, this grand mosque is an architectural marvel that reflects the rich heritage of the region. Commissioned in 1617 by Sultan Muhammad Qutb Shah and completed in 1693 by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, it stands as one of the oldest and largest mosques in India. The mosque derives its name from the bricks used in its central arch, which were made from soil brought from Mecca, Saudi Arabia. With a capacity to accommodate over 10,000 worshippers, Mecca Masjid remains a vital center for Islamic worship and cultural heritage.
