About Medak Cathedral
Medak Cathedral, located in Medak, Telangana, is one of the largest churches in India and serves as the cathedral for the Diocese of Medak of the Church of South India. The church was consecrated on December 25, 1924, and built under the guidance of Reverend Charles Walker Posnett of the British Wesleyan Methodist Mission.The cathedral is renowned for its Gothic Revival architecture, featuring massive pillars, a sound-proof roof made with hollow sponge material, and a bell tower standing at 175 feet. It can accommodate approximately 5,000 people at a time.
Special Features
Stained Glass Windows: The cathedral boasts magnificent stained glass windows that depict scenes from the life of Jesus Christ, including the Nativity, Crucifixion, and Ascension. These windows were designed by Sir O. Salisbury of England and installed between 1927 and 1958.
