Description & Speciality
The temple complex consists of 16 beautifully sculpted temples, dedicated to both the Śvetāmbara and Digambara sects of Jainism. The most significant temple is Neminath Temple, devoted to Lord Neminath, the 22nd Tirthankara, who attained enlightenment and nirvana on this sacred hill. The temples exhibit exquisite Māru-Gurjara architecture, intricate carvings, and are a testament to India's rich cultural heritage.
Girnar, historically known as Raivata or Ujjayanta, has been a sacred pilgrimage site since before 250 BCE. It is believed that Lord Neminath renounced worldly life here, inspired by the sight of animals destined for slaughter at his wedding.
