About the Temple
Built in 1720 AD by Ahom King Shiva Singha, the temple reflects traditional Assamese and Hindu architectural styles, complete with stone carvings and inscriptions. The site’s name is derived from the words ‘Aswa’ (horse) and ‘Klanta’ (tired), based on the legend that Lord Krishna’s horses got tired at this location while chasing the demon Narakasura.

Kurma-Janardana Temple: Situated at the foot of the hill near the southwest bank of the Brahmaputra River.
Anantasayi Vishnu Temple: Located atop the hill, this temple houses an 11th-century image of Lord Anantasayi Vishnu, considered a fine specimen of art from that period.
