About the Temple

Neighboring Shiva Doul is an ancient Shiva temple in Assam, dating back to the 8th-9th century during the rule of the Kachari kings. It is one of the most sacred pilgrimage spots in the state and holds immense religious and historical value.

Temple Description

Built atop a hillock known as Sitabari Hill, the temple architecture is similar to the Ahom style, with a large dome (shikhara) and smaller subsidiary domes. The temple is surrounded by lush greenery, and a peaceful stream flows nearby, enhancing its scenic beauty. Inside, the main sanctum houses a Shiva Linga along with sculptures of Ganesha, Durga, and Vishnu.
