Temple Description
Built around 1219 CE by Hoysala King Ballala II and his queen Ketaladevi, this trikuta (three-shrined) temple stands on a star-shaped platform (jagati). The temple is constructed with soapstone and is adorned with highly detailed carvings depicting Hindu epics, deities, dancers, and floral motifs. The sanctum sanctorum houses Lord Shiva in the form of a linga. Although two of the three shrines are functional, the main central shrine is currently without an idol.
