Madhyamaheshwar Temple is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. It is one of the Panch Kedar temples and holds significant spiritual importance.

Temple Description

Situated at an altitude of around 3,497 meters (11,473 ft), Madhyamaheshwar Temple is known for its serene beauty and spiritual atmosphere. The temple is built in traditional North Indian Nagara style architecture using stone, and it houses a navel-shaped Shiva Linga, symbolizing the “middle” (Madhya) form of Lord Shiva. Snow-capped peaks like Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, and Neelkanth can be seen from here.

One of the five Panch Kedar temples – where different parts of Shiva are believed to have emerged.

The navel (Madhya) of Lord Shiva is worshipped here.

The temple remains open only from May to November, and during winters, the idol is shifted to Ukhimath.

It is accessible only via a trek of about 16–19 km from Ransi village.
