The temple is an ancient and revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Naimisharanya is believed to be the first holy place created by Lord Vishnu. According to mythology, the sages asked Lord Brahma for a sacred site to conduct yagnas, and this spot was chosen. The temple complex includes various shrines and sacred kunds (ponds), including Chakra Tirth – where Lord Vishnu’s discus (chakra) is believed to have fallen.
