Note: Roast rava on medium flame for non-sticky and aromatic upma.

Preparation Steps

  1. Dry roast rava on medium flame for 4–5 minutes until aromatic. Keep aside.
  2. Heat oil and ghee in a kadai.
  3. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal and cashew nuts.
  4. Add curry leaves, green chillies and ginger.
  5. Add chopped onion and sauté until transparent.
  6. Add water and salt. Bring it to a full boil.
  7. Reduce flame and slowly add roasted rava while stirring continuously.
  8. Cover and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  9. Add coriander leaves and lemon juice.
  10. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
