Preparation Steps

Boil the Eggs

Place the eggs in a saucepan, cover with water, and boil for 10 minutes.

Remove shells, keep aside. You can slice or keep them whole.

Prepare the Rice

Wash basmati rice 2–3 times, soak in water for 20 minutes, then drain.

Cook the Masala

Heat oil or ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan.

Add bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamoms; sauté for 30 seconds.

Add sliced onions; fry until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste; sauté until the raw smell goes away.

Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft.

Add mint and coriander leaves; mix well.

Add Rice and Water

Add the drained rice; sauté for 1–2 minutes to coat with spices.

Add 2 cups of water, adjust salt, and bring to a boil.

Cook the Pulao

Lower the flame, cover, and cook until the rice is 90% done.

Gently place boiled eggs (whole or sliced) on top, sprinkle garam masala, and cover for another 5 minutes on low heat.

Rest and Serve

Turn off heat, keep covered for 10 minutes for flavors to settle.

Fluff gently and serve hot with raita or salad.

Egg Pulao is not only delicious but also versatile — you can pair it with simple cucumber raita for a light meal or with spicy chicken curry for a richer spread. Whether for a family lunch or a special occasion, this recipe guarantees a flavorful, filling dish that everyone will enjoy.
